Further to release of the 2nd
presidential committee findings, ACACIA has issued an update as response to the
implication of the committee’s report. Here are highlights of the statement which
was published by the Dar Stock Exchange website:
·
The company refutes the findings of the second
presidential committee
·
The company claims that they have been paying
all the taxes
·
The company claims that 96% of its employees are
Tanzanians
·
The company remains open to further dialogue
with the government
However the statement says
nothing regarding to the legality of ACACIA’s operations in Tanzania. It should
be remembered that, the presidential committee indicated that ACACIA is not
registered in Tanzania – a statement which questions the legality of ACACIA’s
operations in the United Republic of Tanzania.
